Mixing is the adjustment of the individual multitrack elements of a song. This is where the music comes alive!

Mixing is the process of blending individual tracks in a trecording so that the end result (the “mix”) sounds as good as possible. The process includes balancing levels of the tracks, fine-tuning the sounds of each instrument or voice, panning tracks between speakers and adding effects to enhance the mix. It also includes a good deal of editing – cutting vocals, fading, removing clicks, pops and sharp sounds and aligning backups perfectly in time with the main vocals.

Mastering

Mastering is the process of turning a piece of music into a finished product (single, album, beat or soundtrack) ready for distribution. It’s also making your music sound the best it can be. It is the end-stage in music production and involves tweaks and polishes to the existing mix including balancing the level and tonal balance (EQ), controlling the dynamic range, editing highs and lows, fixing problems with the mix and finally creating a secure, reliable manufacturing master including UPC/EAN codes, ISRCs and CD-Text.
